How would you describe yourself and the work you do?
As a Self Care Coach, I combine my love for art and passion for mental health to help people with self care, creativity, and general life transitions.
What are your three gems for self-care these days?
Journaling, rollerblading, and watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
How can people stay connected in this time of physical distancing?
I think it's been fun doing virtual hangouts with friends — like catching up over drinks, or even making collages alongside each other. I feel like being in quarantine has even encouraged me to connect with friends more than before, and I've been taking advantage of the fact that more people are home, on wifi, and have more time to spare.
Can you tell us about your journaling practice and why you’d recommend it to others?
I've been journaling and using a bullet journal regularly for over 4 years now, and it's definitely one thing that has drastically improved my mental health. On top of being able to create pages, which is therapeutic in itself, being able to track things like my mood and sleep helps me become more aware of my body and become more mindful of my wellbeing. I would highly encourage anyone to start anytime with any type of journal, making the journal whatever they need it to be!
What tea are you sipping?
I'm having the Midnight Blossom Oolong. It has floral hints to it but not in an overpowering way. It has a very comforting and flavorful taste that I haven't ever tasted with other teas.
How do you brew tea at home?
I usually use hot water from an electric kettle and put the loose tea leaves in a small tea infuser with a mesh ball to steep in a mug. Then, sometimes I add a little almond milk and honey to top it off.
When and why do you take a tea break?
I love drinking tea sometimes closer to the evening to feel warm and cozy. It definitely has a soothing effect and is a great companion to journaling at night.
